Question:

What did Gandalf mean when he said, "Fly, you fools!"?

Just wondering since it makes absolutely no sense given the situation. Only thing I can think of is he's saying he can fly, and then called them fools.............

    fools doesn't have to be taken literally as calling them 'idiots'

    but in a sense it is. By saying fly(runaway) you fools!

    its showing his frustration that they haven't run away, and that he thinks its silly that they haven't

    so the fools indicates his idea that its stupid of them to still be hanging around.

  4. Fly as in run away as fast as you can. And fools as in why are you still here.
