What did Margaret Mitchell say?

"Gone with the Wind" ends with Rhett leaving Scarlett. She says that she will do anything to get him back. Does anyone know if the author said anything about the ending? If so, where can I find this information, maybe some of her interviews? Did she imply by Scarlett's last words that the characters would reunite? After all, throughout the book she always gets what she wants! So, anyone, tell me if you know how Mitchell wanted for Scarlett to live the rest of her life - with or without Rhett.

  1. i've read/heard before in interviews about the book and movie that Margaret Mitchell left the bookmopen for interpretation. she said that if you truly believed that scarlett was going to get rhett back, then thats what she did. she didnt want to write a sequel because she didnt want to mess with the picture that people had made up in their heads. but she also stated that whatever scarlett put her mind too, she could acheive and she never took no for an answer.

in the sequel (which was c**p) she got rhett back

  2. I don't know the answer to this, but I do know that a few years ago someone wrote the sequel to Gone with the Wind.  The author was a huge fan and tried to stay in the same style as Margaret Mitchell.
