Obama didn't confide in me but in the context of what's been in the news for the last six months I surmise that he was (in part) following up what McCain had suggested, that a visit to Iraq would be a good idea and also following McCain's lead. McCain, in very recent precedent, traveled to Colombia where he met with Colombian President Uribe, and was even briefed on a top secret rescue mission in the jungle;  then on the Mexico where he met with President Felipe Calderon earlier this month.  

    Given the nature of world events and our need to have good relations with other nations, this travel seems a great idea.  It also permits us to see how potential presidents interact with other world leaders.  I don't recall if Governor George W. Bush traveled to other countries during his campaign for the highest office.  I wonder if he did and how he fared.

  3. To pretend that he was president for a few days.
