  1. Let's go over it,

"America had 9/11 coming to it"

True. 9/11 was the result of decades of political interference on the part of American political and corporate interest. The United States has multiple bases in the area, and has very strong ties to Israel. The technical term for this is called "blowback".

    "God d**n America"

First of all, this is a religious statement. Wrights reasoning here is that as Christians, America should be disgusted with what their government has done. He cites "Thou shalt not kill" as the benchmark by which he judges this. The Bible does clearly state this, and Wright is contrasting the old adage "God Bless America" with a new one that takes into account the things that America has done that are "against God". His point being of course, why would God bless America when America kills innocent people (Hiroshima, Nagasaki). I mean, it can't be any clearer, he says it right after that quote.

"Government is owned by rich white people"

True. I also don't think he means this as purely literal, as in there are no black people in CEO and political positions, what Wright means essentially is that the government is controlled by a white "mentality", which is what he sees as petty, corrupt, phony, lying and manipulative. Why does he think this? Well, whats your first reaction to the word "politician"? Exactly.

"US Government knew about Pearl Harbor"

About this, I'm not sure. I've heard several times that Roosevelt ignored multiple warnings in order to enter WW2. But I wouldn't say its completely true.

"US Government injected black people with syphilis"

This was called the Tuskeegee Experiment. Again, I'm not sure. I've put a link to it here.

"Builds prisons, gives drugs, and then passes 3 strike law"

He's exactly right on this. The Justice system is so against the poor african american and hispanic communities that I don't see how people can disagree with this. There is a vicious circle in slums,  the failure of the government to provide the poor people with adequate education, leads inevitably to little or no financial possibilities, which in turn, turns to crime.

This might have been long, but its really important to go in depth to what someone is actually saying before you jump the gun and accuse them of being evil, un-American, racist and crazy.

  2. To be fair, no one attacked him on being untruthful.  You know they believe he is being untruthful, but no one said that.

Their attack was that he came across unpatriotic; that he said America might have some faults.

Which is why America has so many faults; because anytime someone points it out so that they can be fixed, they are attacked as unpatriotic.

Wright is far more American than the ones attacking him.  And far more patriotic.  This country cannot be the greatest country in the world anymore if its faults are hidden so that they cannot be corrected.  America cannot grow up until it breaks away from what drags it down.

To clean the stain from its history, we must first acknowledge that there is a stain.  Only then can we clean it.

  3. He said he wanted Obama to be President... That apparently was a lie, judging from his recent behavior.

  4. Everything - he is a pathetic excuse for a pastor
