Holy mackerel, Romania is in now!  The benefits to the EU for eastern european nations are pretty staggering.  Most notably the stabilization of their currencies.  Britain is largely protected from the devaluation of the euro from its combination with laughable currencies like the Romanian lei since they are not in the monetary union, but trust me, its a good thing for Romania to have euros instead of lei.

It's really early to be trying to determine what effects membership has had. They've been in for a relatively short time.
