I don't want a description of the sound a Passenger Pigeon made. I want a recording of what it sounded like. Passenger Pigeons have been extinct for about 100 years. They are NOT Common Pigeons or Mourning Doves or any other living pigeon or dove so don't waste your time talking about them. I want a sound file of the sound a Passenger Pigeon made.

  1. foolish this piegon didn't made sound but as it was hot favourite prey of hunters thus they gave this excuse that it makes a noise like storm to kill it.

  2. I doubt there was ever a recording of its call, and there was a recording, it was probably lost. I imagine if there was one, you'd find it on Audubon's site.

    This is interesting as well:

Sadly I couldn't find any call recordings, mp3s....nothing. There's a good chance many of the sound files you may find aren't actually passengers pigeons, but probably mourning doves, rock doves, or any of the other wild dove species. With a species extinct for as long as this, it would be easy to fool people with a false call.

Good luck in your search though :)

  3. umm..... I don't think recording devices were really used much at the time the pigeons went extinct.
