  1. In ancient times Egypt was divided in two; Upper Egypt (sothern part) - Te Shemau - land of reeds, and  Lower Egypt (northen part) - Ta Mehu - land of papyrus. They were united 3100 BC, but their names and regalia remained.

  2. New York

  3. Ancient Egyptians

Which just goes to show how advanced they really were.

Not only did they know that many years in the future their land would  be called Egypt by the greatest empire the world has ever known (the British so far) but that because of the passage of time they would one day become ancient.

In order to avoid unnecessary changes in the Oxford Dictionary in years to come they decided to call themselves Ancient Egyptians from the start.

They also invented hieroglyphics and other big words like Tutankhamen, Tomb-raider and Pyramid-selling

  4. KMT, or Kemet, meaning black land. Deshet, was their word for the red land around, and changed into the modern word desert. Kemet probably meant 'land of black soil.'

  5. our land. the land of the gods

  6. KMT.  Ancient Egyptians did not write vowels. It means the Dark Land. What is dark is hotly disputed.  Some scholars argue it is the dark fertile land of the Nile valley; others argue that it refers to the skin color of the people who live there.

  7. When they started to build the pyramids, they became known as 'New Labour'.

  8. Kemet:
