  1. Monkyman, ankle locks are allowed in the UFC.

Le Sabre, ankle locks can crush your tendons and dislocate your ankles. I don't know if you consider the heel hook an ankle lock, since it also affects the knee, but that thing will make you a gimp.

People tap out to ankle locks all the time. You'd be an idiot not to.

Timothy, it was a kneebar. Sherdog it.

  2. It was a kneebar.

And NO ankle locks are NOT illegal in the UFC

  3. anyone who says it was anything besides a kneebar is outing themselves as someone who knows nothing about leg locks.  It was a kneebar.

  4. ankle lock is not illegal in the ufc.

leg lock won't make a fighter submit. it only restrains him while working on your next killer move.

it must have been a combination of ankle lock with a twisting knee bar.

  5. It was an ankle lock. C'mon people did you not watch nor read interviews or anything? Like Lesnar said, "I worked on getting gout of the Ankle Lock hundreds of times. Also, Joe Rogan even said during the fight. Mir is going for the ankle lock.

Frank Mir is a great fighter. However, he is not where he use to be. Only if he was not dumb and rode a bike like he did.

  6. yeah good question, cause i thought ankle locks were illegal in the ufc....was it a kneebar?

i dont know...either way....theres a lot of Frank Mir doubters out there...Hes one of my favorites fighters...Calm demeanor, same look on his face all the time, straightforward guy in interviews, no antics, etc....

I hope people doubt him and he destroys Noguiera!!!

Which i know will be VERY difficult....

  7. first off ankle locks are permitted

in some ju jitsu(more amatuer level) they are banned because they can cause a lot of damage to the tendons in a very fast way

that is not a knee bar

a knee bar is pushing your hips at a level above the knee, while using either your legs or your hands down towards the ankle to bend the knee in the opposite direction

his move is directing pressure on the ankle to affect the knee from the looks of it

thus it looks to me to be a modified heel hook

he is twisting and heel and pulling back, while keeping brocks hips in one direction allowing the ankle to bend one direction while the hips bend the other forcing the knee to split in both directions

    as to Le Sabre

ankle locks are a very effective move when done correctly

you stretch the tendon and apply pressure to the shin bone as well

the force of the ankle backward tho is what gets "most" people

im not going to go and say it affects everyone

cause i know for a fact people have put me in an ankle lock and i have laughed at them (13 years of soccer will do wonders for your legs)

as for joke he is right

    sherdog states kneebar

    UFC.com states leg lock

Lesnar says ankle lock in a post fight interview

to me it appears to be a modified heel hook this would affect the knee however it is an ankle lock
