Question:

What did her reaction mean?

I'm very quiet and shy at work. So, I had been teased about not being a big drinker. In response, I admitted to having hangovers before. Basically to say, hey, it's not like I've never drank before! But then they mentioned how it's not every weekend tho. I lowered my head and didn't say anything back. So one of the women I've opened up to chimed in and said "she'll drink every so often tho." I had my head lowered but smiled when she said that, then nodded in agreement.

I left the room for a few minutes and when I returned, the woman who stood up for me was smiling a lot at me.

What do u think her reaction and smiling meant?

  1. i think she was just genuinely being nice and standing up for you.

  2. while everyone was coming down at you, she stood up for you...so that made her feel good. she made a difference in someone's life that day.  :-)

  3. Why on earth are the rest of the staff teasing you about not being a big drinker?  Do they think that everyone HAS  to drink a lot?

What a sad and sorry statement that makes!

The woman who smiled was merely trying to show you that she was taking your side.

  4. Her reaction means she thinks it's cute that you were so shy about it. I used to be shy like you and a lot of ppl thought it was cute. (Work and university changed the shyness though, lol).

If they're smiling, it ended well.

  5. well since you said you opened up to her a little and you said you were shy and quiet, she may have realized that your quiet, and wanted to be nice to you and help "stand up for you" for you. if that makes sence??  overall, i think she was just trying to be a nice friend, and by what you said it sounds like she is!!  i'd keep her 'round!!!  haha!!

  6. maybe she was glad she helped you out a little?

  7. what do you care what losers who drink every weekend think of you. How boring going out drinking every weekend-don't they have anything better to do.

she thinks your weak and is trying to help you.....speak up for yourself.

  8. I've done that before, trying to let people know I'm not square. But truthfully why should you be ashamed if you don't drink much? You should be proud of that. It's amazing what we'll do to have the approval of others, even people we have nothing in common with. There's no way to know what she was smiling about, but just be you, and hold your head up high.

  9. Why do you care? It's only drinking...Why should you conform to what everyone else is doing? If you don't drink often, and don't want to, then why should you?

And if you really care about this girl, then why don't you ask her yourself? It seems like you're paranoid and are seeking her approval. I wouldn't care what she thinks anyway...next time don't open up to her :P
