We’ve seen in the Olympic champions of the 100m dash, long jump, & high jump. I wonder about those guys, at which age do they start? & what is their life style like? Do they like start as young as 10 year old, & ever since they get intensive training for hours on daily basis? How different are American athletes from Jamaicans from Europeans?

  1. Well, in some sports, your up bringing affects how you compete, for example, most shot putters and hammer throwers are quite 'big' and also, Africans are good long distance runners. Also, most sprinters are Black so, because more Jamaicans are black, they tend to have more sprinters than say, France.

Some Athletes are spotted at school, for example say you were a really good 400m runners, and somebody spots you or you are really good at the 400m, you may take up training then but most Athletes start serious training when they leave school.

Basically, people only train if they are really good at an event.

    Hope I helped!

  2. As everyone is individual, different people take different paths to get to where they are. for some they take their decent talent and train from a young age, do everything right, train hard, eat right etc etc and reap the benefits of years and years of dedication.

Others are just phenomenal natural athletes, with their upbringing naturally setting them up as naturally phenomenal sportsmen. Generally ou see this from the african countries and poorer countries, as they dont have the funds of the bigger countries to pour into athletics. Usain Bolt ran 1 100m run before he started professional sprinting, and now he is the fastest man on teh planet. the marathon winner used to run 5000 metres etc before switching across to marathon running november last year, and now he is olympic champion. But 9 times out of 10 hard training and dedication beats natural talent
