  1. All kinds of sandwiches, salads, and leftovers like fried chicken. No big deal.

  2. hot food in a wide mouthed thermos. stuff like soup, stew, pasta.

  3. There is a microwave where I work but I never use it. I bring sandwiches or salads and when I want soup I bring it in a thermos.

  4. Anything that tastes good room temperature or cold.  Sandwiches, fruits, veggies, puddings, cheese and crackers etc.

They also carried soups and other items in a thermos.

  5. My Mom made us all kinds of sandwiches. We never thought about keeping it cold. Didn't have any of that stuff 54 years ago. Cottage cheese and olive sandwiches, peanut butter and jelly, meat, all kinds.

  6. I used to be in charge of the sandwich making at home, and it was always sandwiches, or pasta/rice salad

  7. A good old-fashioned insulated thermos with hot soup and some crackers was the big treat at lunch time.  I also know of woman that used to take their husbands lunch at lunch time.  If you didn't know about a microwave "way-back-when" people used to get by just fine without them.

  8. They brought all kinds of cold sandwiches wrapped up in waxed paper.
