  6. the 15th amendment gave african americans the right to vote. it basically said that no individual could be refused the right to vote because of skin color. all  african american individuals were legally allowed to vote with out being put through literacy tests or the grandfather clause (clause that prohibited african americans to vote because they would check ancestry and if your ancestors could not vote neither could you.
