  1. We ended slavery.

edit: someone gave me a thumbs down for saying we ended slavery?

  2. and why have there been more Republican Presidents in the last 40 years." Because poor people like the Republicans to stick it to them"

  3. Death, war, pestilence, economic meltdown and record foreclosures

  4. And it's all been downhill since the first poster.

Regan (Fiscal Conservative Republican) - Deficit

Bush 1 (Fiscal Conservative Republican) - Deficit

Clinton (Tax and Spend Liberal Democrat) - 220+ Billion Surplus

Bush 2 (Fiscal Conservative Republican) - Deficit

Republicans brought us the Patriotic Act, which is as far from it as possible.

Oh and the dummy who says they ended the Cold War should research McDonald's. Oh and it suddenly became legal to speak out against the government in Russia.

  5. War and debt. And a bunch of wild stuff inbetween.

  6. Since the times of Abraham Lincoln, almost nothing except Eisenhower's beginning of school desegregation in the South. Since then it has  bought racism , poverty, wars, and an increased income gap between the rich and the poor.

  7. Enough to keep it from becoming a single party dictatorship.

For plenty of answers, ask this on Eastern Europe Y!A Answers forums.

    They know.

  8. 1) A huge national debt approaching 10 trillion dollars.

    2) The reputation for having a corrupt Federal government.

    3) The reputation of being a bully on the world stage.

    4) The reputation for being a culturally backward nation.

    5) Mockery, ridicule and derision in general.

  9. my question ...what did the Democrats do in the last two years...

    nothing...

    and I'm Dem

and why have had more Republican Presidents in the last 40 years...

IF YOU WANT TO BE FAR ABOUT IT..

  10. Actually what makes America a great country are the freedoms it gives it's citizens. The political parties should be nothing more than an extention of the American people's voice...so really to find things specifically that either the Republican party or the Democratic party did that was so great is giving both of them more credit than they deserve.

  11. Reader Digest Version - They helped make this great country a super power and the envy of other countries.  They assisted folks in being able to obtain the American dream of wealth and prosperity.  Lastly, it is because of the Republicans that someone like Obama is able to run for president.

  12. Well we ended slavery, won the Cold War, found a way to get the hostages taken in Iran back when liberal wonder boy Carter was in office, freed Kuwait from Iraq, secured the 2nd Amendment, for starters.

  13. Their one positive accomplishment was to free the slaves, but an activist right-wing judge soon nullified that by downplaying their rights and giving them to corporations instead.

That's not to say they haven't had other accomplishments, like the Robber Barons.  Some of their accomplishments were particularly great, most conspicuously a depression that was so great the adjective was capitalized.  Republicans liked it so much that they elected a leader named Ronald Alzheimer who gave us voodoo economics and opened the door for another Great Depression by letting corporations police themselves like the Mafia does.

  14. Abraham Lincoln - he presided over the ending of slavery, but was also a cool cat, a great writer,  and a visionary, someone to study and model. I'm a Dem, but this guy is in a class by himself and all should look up to.
