  1. The Thirteen colonies protested because of the Quebec Act which took away some of their rights. Another reason was because of taxes put on things like Sugar and Stamps. There were also some acts, like the Declaratory, Townshend and Coecerbe act which gave less freedom to the 13 colonies. In 1776 during the summer, the representitives of each colony met up in Philidephia to discuss the matter, which ended as The United States of America as an Independent Nation. From there, the war of Independence (AKA The American revolution) broke out, and lasted until 1783.
