What did the woman in front of me in line at Home Depot mean?

She was buying a weed-whacker and the cashier asked her if she wanted to buy a service plan for it. The woman said, "Oh No.. I will be a happy camper if this breaks". Why would she say that?

Do you think she is the one that does the weed whacking and she will be happy if it breaks so that she doesn't have to do it anymore, or, something else? I didn't get it.

  1. It was either medication or distilled beverages talking.

  2. I'm certain she had a  meaning, that only she and some other person understood., like a private joke, that makes no sense , to anyone else.

Or maybe she has to also pay some one to do the work, So if the thing breaks no work can be done and she saves $$$

or she wanted to go somewhere and her partner/husband is using the yard as an excuse not to go, saying "If I had a weed

eater". there to many reasons to mention here.

  3. maybe she hopes to simply return it.

  4. She probably doesn't want to have to use the weed whacker. Just like buying a treadmill means you're going to have to actually work out. Same sort of deal.

  5. She probably bought the weed-whacker out of necessity and wants to use it as little as possible.

  6. she wants her husband to keep using the straight razor

  7. she was just being a sarcastic ***** and didn't want to pay for the plan

  8. She could've meant that she didn't want to buy the plan, but she wanted to say in a nice way. Or if it broke, it wouldn't really matter to her.

  9. I think she was just being sarcastic!

  10. I think it is possible that she does the weed-wacking....

My mom's father died when she and my aunt were very young (6 and 2 years) and my grandmother never remarried.  As a result there were no gender roles.  My mother being the oldest was assigned to mow the lawn as soon as she became old enough and continued to do so all through out my childhood.  It was only when my father retired that he started to do the lawn care.
