  1. Types of beer or wine became very popular in the ancient world, due to the fact that alcohol killed most bacteria & microbes in the water.  It is likely that the ruling class of most cultures avoided local water due to growing water polution around most ancient civilizations. Some fermented drink is found in most civilizations of any size.


  2. Well...they must have been drinking something with all those PBGs (pointed base goblets).

    Ancient cultures often drank beer, so the Indus folks may have been drinking beer as well.

  3. Presumably a lot of water, but also crushed fruit drinks, and later even beer.
