What did this do to my hair?

When i went to the hairdressers yesterday i asked for more long layers, side bangs, and a trim. But as he was cutting it he twisted it first. And then he twisted my hair and put heat on it with a blow dryer. What did this do?

I'm not sure about the twisting when blow drying, but he probably twisted it while he was cutting because then the cut is not so blunt, all of your hair is not the exact same length, it's texturized.
