There were no such things as "water dinosaurs" they are referred to as prehistoric swimming reptiles. And most were carnivous so they usually ate other marine life and some could snatch small dinosaurs that wondered too close to the waters edge.

depending on what type they were, they either ate water vegitation and stones, or other water reptiles or dinosaurs

and the meat eaters ate other dinasours and smaller animals around at that time
