Question:

What did you all think of the Women's Gymnastics All Around Finish at the 2008 Olympics?

I thought the placings were fair and right:

1) Nastia Liukin

2) Shawn Johnson

3) Yilin Yang

Although the scores were a bit inconsistent, I think the finishings were accurate. Nastia was the best gymnast on this day. Shawn had a slight balance check on beam, but she came back like a champ on floor to earn the silver. Yilin Yang also did great.

All's well that ends well.

  1. i'm not sure, they are all excellent ones

  2. I agree, but I just wish people would stop being anti-american and anti-chinese and just agree. The olympics are about love of the sport and bringing countries together, not creating wars...

  3. Yes it is. China didn't fare too bad. The Individual All-Around was never a success for China but 3rd is good. Congrats to Nastia and the cutie Shawn Johnson.

  4. This is the expected result and I am happy. It was destiny for Nastia to win the AA, she and her father had it timed right.

  5. I think that it was fair and well deserved. Even though I adore Yang, Liukin and Johnson were the better gymnasts today.

  6. I personally think Shawn should have won. She's so much more consistent and solid compared to Nastia. After watching the Olympics these past few days, Shawn has been the best all around and has not made any major mistakes (like falling) like Nastia has. And sure people say Nastia shows more grace or whatnot, but Shawn is 4'9 and very muscular..its probably a little harder to show "grace" when you're not tall and stick skinny. Nastia was good though, just not as good as Shawn in my opinion. The two Americans definitely deserved silver and gold though.

  7. The places are alright shawn is more consistent compared to Nastia. The only reason Nastia won was because here dad was a gold medalist & could plan out her whole routine.

The Judges suck, & so do this new scoring system they need to change it again!

  8. I didn't really think about it....sorry I was too busy

  9. At least China didn't win this medal. They are winning all. I'm from the UK.

  10. I agree I think it turned out well but I really wanted Shawn to get the gold.  She did have that one balance check on beam but it was still a better routine than a few girls who got higher scores.  speaking of scores there was something really weird about the scores tonight especially on beam.  Nastia and Shawn both had excellent floor routines though, a lot better than Yilin Yang, I think.

But once again I agree that everything turned out well and even though I wanted Shawn to get the gold Nastia definitely deserved it and performed beautifully tonight or I guess afternoon where she is ha.

  11. The judges seemed to be giving unfair scores in the beginning to the U.S. Although we did bring home gold and silver, we were still given very unfair scores in the beginning. They were definitly overscoring ,if thats a word, the Chinese. But thankfully we brought 1st and 2nd! Although I kinda wanted Shawn Johnson to bring home the gold, but oh well it all worked out! GO TEAM USA!

  12. N astia was the best gymnast of the day but I don't think she is gold medal material...she makes a lot of mistakes and bobbles. I think shawn johnson had more potential to be gold but she too makes stupid mistakes, she just looks like she isn't trying when she tumbles...Nastia looks like it is always about a hair away from falling..but the good news is that we were #1 and #2...

  13. i wish that shawn would have got gold! i love her!

but other than that i thought the results were goood!

  14. very good. U.S. imo were definitely the best out there, with china being a close second.  I know nothing about gymnastics but it looks like our routines are more difficult and china's are easy, so china gets better points for completing them. I was rootin for shawn, but im happy for nastia.

  15. They tried to give the gold to the Chinese just like in the team competition, but in the eyes of everyone the chinese did not even deserve the bronze. The Americans were almost flawless, but if they made the same number of mistakes the chinese made they would not have won. It is truly amazing that they won even though they were not playing on an even or equal playing field.

  16. ehhh i think its pretty fair. i care more about the swimming though, its more exciting to me..

  17. Both are deserving! Before the end of the competition, I was actually wishing they'll tie for gold!

  18. i dont have any cable

  19. That was a good competition... the come back from Nastia was good. It's a shame that Semenova didn't get much done besides beams, she's awesome. And same goes for the Romanian girl, too. She just seemed really out of it (lost the will to compete) for some reason. Oh Liukin won a deserving gold for sure (redeemed herself from that out of bound c**p).

Russian girls (including Liukin) are fun to watch on the floor that's for sure, the dancer skill definitely show.

  20. nastia was great, but yang seemed kinda young looking, dont cha think? and the other chinese girl too.

  21. I think they were pretty fair.

I'm happy the USA brought 1st and 2nd home!

  22. i agree exactly with what you said. although i do believe strongly the chinese women were not of age and it is completely wrong that they cheated, why would they put an age limit on the gymnastic olympic teams? they never have before. other than that yes, judging was off at times but it was a great ending.
