I know I can find this on CollegeBoard.com, but I want a specific example of how someone qualified; what was your GPA, your extracurriculars, your leadership skills, your volunteering? Did you take any outside classes, etc.

And please, answer only if you were admitted or applied into JHU.

  1. Hi!

    I had a 94 unweighted GPA

Was third in the class (of like 120 or so)

3 APs junior year, 2 senior year

    Played varsity baseball and soccer

    President of chess club

    I was in band

    SAT reading: 800; math: 700; writing: 650

I didn't take ACT or subject tests (not that I recommend this- actually probably an oversight on my part)

My high school required service hours, so I put that on my resume- like 40-50 hours at my local church.

I wrote the awards and scholarships I won, it doesn't hurt to write scholarships you might win from other schools, too.  I might have had like 3-5 of those.

I didn't take any outside classes.

Test scores are important, but your HS record is what counts most, so just focus on that and write a good essay. :)
