Question:

What did you do to relax while waiting for your baby to arrive?

So my son is due tomorrow, and I have already tried every natural remedy to induce labor. Castor oil (bad idea), walking, s*x, spicy food, pressure points you name it I tried it. I have come to the conclusion that my son is going to come when he is ready! I have a planned induction for August 30 if I haven't already had him by then. My question is what did you do to relax while waiting for your baby to come? I am finding myself very excited, but am having a lot of anxiety as well. Any tips would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

  1. I was the same way- one thing you could do (if you enjoy this sort of thing) is plan a bunch of meals that you can make and freeze for after the baby is home. You will most likely have people bring you food, but once that passes, you are still so busy!

  2. Sleeeeeeppppppppp........... I know its hard but trust me you will wish you did if you dont, when he gets here!!! Good luck and congrats

  3. I pampered myself with simple in-expensive things.  I went and had my nails and hair done.  I had my husband give me a very sensual massage hitting all the pressure points, I took nice long solitary walks with my puppy dog, and spent an hour in the shower just soaking up the warm water....  Over all I did what I enjoyed most about quiet time because I just knew I would let myself go after baby was born because I would want to spend every second of my day with my sweet baby.  I love being a parent but love my quiet too.  Take this time to treasure the quiet because once baby comes quiet is never the same!

    Good Luck,

  4. 39 weeks and due next Thursday. I understand what you mean. I am so ready to see his little face. I have found myself cleaning all the time. I also try to pamper myself, pedicures do my nails and hair. I have changed his room a few times and washed all his clothes and bedding. I have precooked some meals so I will not have to worry about it when I get home. Because I am off work now, I am thinking about helping out at my church to past time. Good luckk and congrats on your son.

  5. I am in the same boat Im 40weeks 4 days and I have already done everything you can do. I had a sweep done today and my doc said shed induce this weekend if the maternity ward isnt busy. I can say that my hair skin and nails have never looked better and even though I spaced all of my treats out Ive still got till Saturday to kill. My poor husband he walked and walked with me to the point we dont have anywhere else to go. You can only walk around the mall so many times. This has been especially hard because Im not a crafty person but Im thinking about getting some kind of paint by number thing. We tried a puzzle but it was not stimulating enough.Good luck and I hope we both have quick labor after waiting this long.

  6. I know how hard it is those last few weeks.  I tried all the same things you've listed above (and I agree: castor oil = bad idea) and nothing worked.  I made myself miserable and crazy.

I'm a birth doula and I work with pregnant women all the time.  They are all miserable and anxious those last few weeks.  The best thing you can do is get lots of rest, eat well, make sure you are staying hydrated, and try (although it is hard) to enjoy this time before your baby comes.  Treat yourself to a massage or a facial if you can afford it.  If not, maybe your local massage school offers them at a discount.

Practice your relaxation breathing and take it easy.  That little baby will be here before you know it!
