Question:

What did you do with my Portfolios?

Yahoo has decided to edit my portfolios without any notice, let alone permission. They "updated" the portfolios and just dropped stock listings right off of them. They never considered that I might actually WANT to know the difference between what I paid for a stock in 2005 and what I paid for it in 2007 when I bought more.

Yahoo is getting better at ticking off users everyday.

Thanks for making my life more difficult. Again. Seems you did this about a year ago too.

HAVE YOU LEARNED NOTHING YAHOO? I have, and I will not be frequenting your finance section anymore. Since it is now USELESS to me.

  1. And they won't care.  It seems that they'd rather have a small group of sycophants who praise their changes rather than to have a very large, happy user base.  I predict the demise of Yahoo because A) they're changing software to be something that the vast majority of users don't want, B) they're not giving users the choice, C) They claim they want feedback, but they never do anything with it.

Come on, Yahoo!  Tell the community at large why you're making all these changes that nobody asked for and nobody wants, and then ignoring the masses when they dare to tell you about it.

  2. Change your URL to: http://ca.finance.yahoo.com/p?v&k=pf_1

This works for now until corporate decides to cram their "New and Improved" format down everybody's throat, worldwide.  Sounds like a classic "Dilbert Syndrome" with too many pointy-haired bosses. . .

The view that existed before this one worked just fine - you could print a portfolio with about 40 entries on it with IE7 by selecting the stuff you wanted, go to print preview, view as selected on screen, adjust size scaling, landscape format and you got a nice spreadsheet-type printout for your historical records all on one page.  The new view effectively double-spaces the data lines and you must shrink the effective font smaller in order to fit it on one page.

Personally, I liked the previous portfolio printouts that I used to make because they came out in a very nice table with solid black header labels, block printed like an Excel spreadsheet.

One can only hope that they will look at all of the negative comments that have been posted about the "New View."

  3. I agree!!!  I came in today and some of my stock purchases and info was GONE!!  The whole format stinks.  I am looking for another finance page to frequent.
