My husband and I are wondering what to get my son for his 1st birthday. We would like to get him a toy and then something more meaningful/lasting.

Any suggestions?

  1. A special book would be a great idea.  Honestly you know the things that are special between you and your son.  So just think about the special times that you have and what you can give him that can commemorate that for years to come.  Naming a star after him would be special although he wouldn't appreciate that until later.

  2. we started the prescious moments number train, one for each year( i know its girly) but we also got her a book and personalized it and read it to her every night, you could start a tradition of getting him something each year( like a baseball autographed, or a model car, or something you want him to be interested in)

also you could go to build a bear( yes they have boy ones, if he likes animals) and make him a bear with a certificate and he can keep it for a long time!

  3. books, and a toy he can ride or push

  4. We got our son "I Love You Forever" by Robert Munch and then inscribed the inside cover.

  5. My husband and I made him a "build a bear" that was a giraffe. That was his first big word and he loved them.  We put a voice in the giraffe, wishing him a happy first birthday and that we love him very much.  Also, every year I write him a card about the year passed and how important he is to us-  Then I seal it and put it in a box for him for when he is older.  I know someone who also created a scrapbook page representing each year. When the child gets older she will give it to him.  Good luck & happy first birthday!!!
