I paid $3.60 a gallon for the cheapest grade gas at Shell this morning.

I use a Shell card which gets me 5% back ~ so 3.60 (-) .18 = 3.42ish (you know they're not cutting me any 5% on taxes, etc.

Got a sob story of your own?

  1. I thought I had a sob story at $3.24 (Boise, ID), but yours takes the cake!

  2. average near me is around 3.23 a gallon. I do home-based social work, and I am on the road a lot to a few different counties. It's starting to scare me.

  3. i paid 2.98 in joplin,mo

  4. 3.08 in Olathe, KS last thursday.

    It's up to 3.15 now

  5. Absolutely nothing... hahahaha!

I ride a bike to work 16 miles roundtrip rain or shine.

I also paid no car insurance, car payments or maintenance costs.

And I spent less time commuting than I would have either using mass transit or a gas-powered vehicle.

It's got to be tough for some of you sitting there in your cozy metal box watching the fuel gauge dip, knowing that for every minute you spend going nowhere in traffic it's costing you - and will continue to cost you even more as time goes on...

Oh... hi... that's me on the bike there that just zipped by about 30-40 of you stuck at the light.

    Sorry I have no sympathy.

  6. in a week i pay 212 a week thats because i drive a small bus because of my job but they pay me back

  7. $3.51 Mid Grade- Naples, FL

  8. I paid $3.23 last night, but noticed the same station had raised the price to $3.49 this morning.

26 cents!  In 10 hours?  Freaking scam, I tell you.

    Western Suburbs Chicago, IL

  9. Last night I paid $21.95 for five gallons of diesel.

That comes out to be $4.39/gal.

Regular unleaded around here has been hovering around $3.29/gal.

When I started driving, regular unleaded was only at $1.32. Sadly, that was only 5 years ago.

  10. affton shell was 2.99 yesterday morning...

    3.19 this morning....

  11. In the UK it is £5a gallon what about that.  a £ is about "  2dollars. so £5 is 10 dollars.

  12. Pittsburgh, PA....$3.29 regular....but I have a Giant Eagle (supermarket) Advantage Card.  You get 10 cents off per gallon for every $50 you spend there, so I actually paid $2.39 on my last fill up.

  13. Got a Prius recently, so I'm not "feeling the love" from Exxon, as much as I used to but I drive something like 30000 miles per year, so it still definitely "leaves a mark" on my finances at the end of the day.

I will say this, It's still too darned expensive, looks like we might want to take the hint from our friends in the UK and Japan and catch the bus or train more frequently.

And for the love of God, thankfully none of our politicians have had it in their tiny heads to put those "efficiency taxes" in place to force commuters and distant suburban drivers to change their ways.

But the Saudis seem to be doing that all by themselves, give it another few years of griping and moaning and I suspect someone will make it such that Toyota and/or GM build the car that gets around on sunbeams and cow flatulence (probably literally).

  14. The lowest you will find it, as of yesterday , in Montgomery was $3.11. I drive about 10 miles to a smaller town and its $2.99. or it was last fill up.

I find it annoying. The prices went up when it was Spring break. And now are down a bit. That tells me they have more control over the gas prices than they admit.
