  1. I thought it was excellent.  I sincerely like the man and his ideals.

  2. Obama is proving to be a rare creature in American politics.  He spoke with the credibility of his genes in both the black and white race. He said things that know one dare say.  it was ballsey, intelligent and from the heart.  The net effect is that whoever will risk taking him on the race issue, they have to think long and hard if they want to have the discussion, which was previously viewed as an Achilles heel.  They have to ask themselves how honest do they want this conversation to be.

This speech set up the next speech.  Obama is a big time political speaker.

  3. d**n I missed it.  I am going to go look it up.

    I am for Obama.

    Excellent!

Obama's speech also drew praise from one of his former Democratic presidential rivals who has not endorsed him or Clinton. Delaware Sen. Joe Biden called it powerful, truthful and "one of most important speeches we've heard in a long time"

  4. Senator Obama delivered a powerful speech today that was heart felt and sent chills up and down my spine.  I feel that he is very sincere and if elected will work diligently at unifying the country, the economy, the war in Iraq, etc.   Senator Obama shows such strength even through the perilous times.

  5. Have to agree with Jacqui.  Minus the chills.  Almost booked a doctor's appointment though because I thought my hearing was playing tricks on me... a politician telling the honest truth and completely dismantling "concerns" from the other side.  The man's brilliant.

  6. I didnt see it.  An impressive speaker may be nice, but it doesnt help when someone calls the red phone at the white house in the middle of the night does it?

  7. I have been actively avoiding almost all political speeches for eight years now. I'm not ready to start listening yet.

Mind you . . . I live in Iowa. We've been having to deal with this election a lot longer than most. I quit caring a year ago.

That and listening to President Bush makes me cringe. He's a horrible public speaker. Seems like a decent guy, but I can't listen to him.

That said . . . . do you have a link to the transcript? I'll read it.

  8. We're not even to April and I have been weary from this campaign for months.

One more day, one more speech.

    Sorry, but I am jaded.

  9. (((Walk))) I haven't seen it yet. But I will say I am sure that is not the first time the minister has said something like that. I also believe Obama has heard such rhetoric before while attending that church. You will notice that no one in the church seemed shocked at what Rev. Wright was saying.

Having said that, he is still the only candidate who has been against the war since the beginning and will still get my vote.

  10. I cant believe you guys are that naive to fall for a political speech like that.I bet you watch wrestling also.I bet the majority of you are under 21. Politics 101, say what the public wants to here.LOL

  11. Excellent.Gave them both barrels.Next stop,The White House.

Mike C:I'm 51 sweetheart. Never watch wrestling.Guess you lost the bet.

  12. I am sorry I was not able to catch the news earlier this evening so I did not hear his speech.

I am going to catch the reruns on CNN shortly.

I'll let you know my opinion tomorrow if your question is still up then.

    Edit:

O.K. I have had a chance to hear his rebuttal to the inflammatory comments made by his pastor.

I think that he handled himself beautifully, he was elegant and eloquent in his speech, he was able to disassociate himself from the pastors comments while at the same time he refused to negate his past and future affiliations with him.

He showed his honesty when instead of running he stood firm and acknowledged the sad truth of how past generations of distrust, bigotry and resentment have not yet been dissolved and the old wounds healed.

I loved when he described his white grandmothers fear of encountering black men on the street, it showed how like his pastor we need to work hard to put the past to rest and mend the fracture that exists between the two.

  13. I honestly didn't hear it.
