  1. I lost all respect for the guy, used to be one of my favorites but i guess all drunks are idiots. After watching him, i started rooting for the other guy. I was glad he won when i found out he won when it first ended, now i take it back.

  2. I cannot BELIEVE that the tournament manager didn't give him a time out for his behavior!  Half of every sentence was bleeped out, and I've seen guys at the main event given a 10min time out for dropping a single F-bomb.  Scotty showed an absolute lack of class.  DeMichele wasn't on his best behavior, but nothing he did warranted even half of what Scotty gave him.  Showing cards to the crowd?  His hand should have been declared dead.  Having his fans come up to the table?  They should have been tossed out.  Helmuth, Matusow, and Devilfish have gone on rants before.  But Scotty's was over the top.  It was mean, mean spirited, created an extremely hostile environment that I could feel through the TV, and totally negated a chance to teach a young player about how to behave.  DeMichele actually showed a lot more poise and command of the situation.  Swearin' and drinkin' are part of poker, but I honestly expected better of him.

And my respect for Erik Lingren went through the roof.  Not only did he call Scotty on his behavior but he left his drunk friend Layne (?) hanging when he tried to high five him after the game.  Erik handled the situation like a pro, too bad Scotty was acting like a 19 year old frat boy at his first card game.

  3. whatever you may think of scottys behaviour (which was sickening) it was the tourney director that has to be taken down here. The onus is on him to make sure that players have some sort of etiquette and manners and this wasnt the case obviously. i live in europe and although i love the personalities that make up these tables the attitudes that SOME of them bring is revolting.Reminds me of tony G in the aviation club in france a few years back.People were just taken aback by his behaviour as its not tolerated over here and wasnt that night. Now saying that,we're all adults and things do get heated but you gotta know when your making a d**n *** of yourself and more importantl, its up to the tourney director to remind you if you cant control yourself. And this guy layne flack....dont get me started lol......

  4. I was appalled, I had a hard time even finishing the show.  I ended up blogging about it because I was so offended by his behavior.  I mean it is one thing to act up at poker table but c'mon, this is the $50K HORSE tourney in memory of Chip Reese...act accordingly.

  5. From what I read that was edited out of the broadcast on ESPN, Scotty also berated the dealers as well throw his cards at them and drop a lot more F-bombs.  At first I thought DeMichelle was being a little immature but I was impressed at the way he handle himself after Scotty and he got into it.  I was hoping for Eric or Michael to bust Scotty, but knew that Scotty had already won.  I find Scotty behavior dishonoring to Chip Reese especially after what everyone was saying about how he conducted himself as a person and poker player and that there be a trophy in his honor.  Scotty has damaged his rep and will a lot of damage control for him to repair it.

  6. I lost a lot of respect for Scotty after watching him at this event.  I really didn't find anything wrong with what DeMichele was doing, he was just an enthusiastic kid.  Scotty took it to the next level and embarrassed himself .  I understand he was drunk but I thats not really a good excuse.  When you start getting players like Eric Lindgren to turn on you know you've gone too far.

  7. He was certainly in a strange mood that day.  Normally he comes across as playful and a bit silly, even when drunk.  However, on this occasion he came across as mean, disrespectful, rude and a bit of a douche.

While I am sure he was elated to take the title, when he watches himself back on TV he may find that his behavior spoiled the sweetness of victory.

I'm amazed he wasn't cautioned or given a time out.

  8. DeMichele is a 23 year old "kid" sitting at the final table of a 50K tournament. It is understandable that he was unsure of how to conduct himself early on in the final table. He simply started off by lacking a little respect for the other players when taking down pots from them.

Scotty Nguyen is seasoned poker professional, a 4 time bracelet winner (now 5). A WPT title winner and a former Main Event Champion. He should know how to conduct himself at the table.

Many professionals rant and rave about bad beats. (Hellmuth, Matusow etc.) But there is a line that is rarely crossed, especially by professionals. Scotty crossed that line, by a long way.

I have seen Erick Lindgren play many times and cant remember him in a confrontation with another player. His reaction to Scottys behaviour shows how far out of line Scotty  was.

I wonder what the porfessionals in the croud thought of Scotty.

  9. Horrendous. Absolutely horrendous. This is the first year that this event was dedicated to the memory of the great Chip Reese and this is how Scotty, a professional player (not an online amateur), represents himself. Drunk or not, he was nothing short of obnoxious. Eric Lindgren deserves a HUGE pat on the back for taking the high road against Snotty. If only he could've won the event. He is by far more deserving and, in my opinion, a better player all around.

  10. Wow out of all the players in the world i never thought Scotty would behave himself like that in a tournament which was honoring the memory of Chip Reese. I was actually happy when i heard he won the title and i thought he deserved it for what happened in the 07 main event, but after seeing his bit** a** performance last night i think they should strip him of the title. Im certain he lost millions of his fans last night including me. Hes going to have to do a lot of work to regain his respect not only from the fans but from the pros.
