  1. I felt bad for him he seems really cool .  It is not like he got in someone else way.  I does not seem fair but as my mum says "Gray hair is not fair,"  ....I don't know my mum is loopy

  2. I feel so disappointed for him. He worked so hard for the bronze but you have to understand the rules are the rules Unfortunately it can't be bent even a little because everyone is going to expect the same treatment.

  3. Very sad, but fair. no doubt.

  4. it sucked that both of the atletes got dq'ed but rules are rules i guess

  5. I felt sorry for the guy. I think one of the other 2 US runners should give him their medal. Maybe Walter Dix since when he saw the 2nd place guy got DQed and he was defaulted for the bronze he was not at all impressed and said 'he still lost'. So he could make it up to Spearmon in a way

  6. he and that other guy clearly stepped on the line

    a violation of the rules

so i don't see how it can be anything other than a good call

  7. The IAF and IOC must enforce their rules and therefore the DQ's are legitimate.

If not, then how far will they allow athletes to cross the line?

It's disappointing that two of the medals were awarded because of this though.

    Good question.

    Enjoy!

  8. I'm all for Team USA but he did step on the line and should have been disqualified, just as the other athlete was.

    Those are the rules.

  9. Good question.

The rules are very fair. When a runner steps on the inside line on the curve, he is basically cutting corners and therefore running a slightly shorter distance. If they did not step on the line, it will take them a bit more time to get to the finish line. Therefore the recorded time is not valid. Stepping on the line or crossing the line can also interfere with other runners.

All the runners know the rules well. Stepping on the line is an automatic disqualification. It is fair and should be enforced. That's why you do not see anyone protesting.
