  1. Very surprising that the truck managed to cause so much damage to the train, normally a train hitting a truck means the truck disintegrates, even a semi.

Looks like the level crossing was working (interesting how 'timetable changes' before the incident were mentioned as if that could somehow excuse the truck for having ignored flashing lights and bells.

Absolute shame that one person's actions in such a selfish way (hurry, I must beat the train or I might have to wait a whole 20 seconds) can cause the death of 11 people. But it looks as if the truck driver is being charged with culpable driving and possibly more. Can't bring back the dead people though.

  2. My thoughts go to their families

  3. I actually live in Kerang. The devasation it had on our town was huge. The media frenzy was quite disturbing. I was at school when this terrible accident occured, my friend and i were walking home when quite a few helicopters flew above us. My friend said "probably a car accident" so we really didnt worry about it. When i got home i rang my granparents to see what was going on. She replied there had been a huge accident on the swan hill road. It was a train accident and 6 people are killed. I had been over that railway millions of times, how could that happen?? The crossing was sort of on a bend and i thought it needed repairing many years ago.  The truck driver obvoisly had fallen asleep or thought he could of bet the train. One suvivor said "I saw the lady across from me see the truck and closed her eyes. Its a wonder we got out" The truck driver should be charged for much more than what he is being charged for. Just imagne getting on a train and never getting home...
