  1. I actullay read a copy of her speech because I was at school during the telecast. The same old tune...la la la...

"Hindi ko papayagang humadlang ang sinuman sa pag-unlad at pagsagana ng taong bayan. I will let no one - and no one's political plans - threaten our nation's survival. Our country and our people have never failed to be there for us. We must be there for them now."

    -President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo

  2. As a foreigner, I realized that I don't know anything about Philippine politics.

In my opinion, I think that the common citizen have no knowledge of how government operations work.

I agree when GMA said that problems can not be solved over night.

Maybe the common citizens don't understand her vision.

Its just an opinion so don't get sensitive on me folks. (smile)

  3. all of those are only JOKE!

  4. I have not heard any Philippine SONA for the last five years, so I do not know what to think.

But, if it is anything like the ones we have before that, then there will always be violent reactions to it. That is not to say that those complaints are not legitimate. I agree with one answerer who says that the average person has no idea how to run a government. And that usually SONAs are done so that the common people can understand but of course it can be condescending or may be too ridiculous.

But anyway the Filipinos are normally to blame for who runs their government, because of people who sell their vote, people do not vote, do not guard their vote or do not spend time in choosing who to vote for.

For some people vote for people they know or for people who they can get favors from during the campaigning & after the elections.  Do not be deceived we deserve the leaders we vote into office, starting from the lowest levels of government.

  5. not as good as last year's.. i agree with the VAT on oil but the stance on the population issue hindi tlga... cheers also to the Php 3B fund to fight corruption (but please focus on LGUs cause they are the ones hindering things from the beginning) i guess i'm one of the few who still believes in the gov't.. (err boardering naive ba 'to? -- i still have faith!) and if we don't believe in the Gov't wala.. sino pa? wawa naman tayo.. its like a child not believing his/her parents; though sometimes they are wrong, but overall their intentions for us is good.. our country's been like a rebel child and that's why we're having difficulties with discipline. (blind loyalty?) i don't think so, i've had my experience dealing with corruption and it sucks!! but still there are those few people that i meet and makes me think to myself.. "etong mga to they are really here, sacrificing and doing their job well, fighting to make a difference.. the least thing that i can do for them is give them strength by believing in them as they go on everyday fighting/proving that not everyone in gov't is corrupt and may matitinong tao sa gobyerno.  sayang naman pinaglalaban nila kung iisipin lang natin na pareparehas sila.. " so i support them! and spread to everyone that not everyone is corrupt!! they have a chance, we have a chance, if people just believe!!

well.. those are just my 2 cents worth..  I wonder if the person who made this is admin? or opposition? hmmm ;p

  6. the 50 centavo text message rate seems to be a good news :) unless they add VAT on it :)) haha

text vat @-) masisiraan na tayo ng bait nyan!!!

  7. i heard the text message rate has been dropped to 0.50 cents from a peso as announced by gma during sona. but on the news also, the ntc said that it will only be a promo that will run only for 90 days period. so its obviously a  trick.

  8. It stinks, just like the other sonas the president had in the past.  Incomplete reporting like the purported discount rate of text messages from 1 peso to 50centavos.  Only to hear from tele-communication companies that in adherence to the call or request of the president, they have lowered their rates BUT only up to the 23rd of October.  Now, isn't that an irresponsible act by the president not to give the complete details and in some way, mislead the people into believing that the new rate for text messaging is permanent?  And for certain, those people who stood when she mentioned a marked improvement in their lives were paid advertisers or promoters of her so-called achievements.

Nothing really new in her sona.  However I may dislike her, I have to commiserate with her in some way specially when she is being blamed for the erratic increases of fuel prices in the world market.  It's beyond her control and we should understand that however, as an economist, she should know what to do.

  9. SONA was great! There was no traffic at all. One of the very rarest time on SLEX, Makati, and C5! I think I saved a good amount of gas today.=D

  10. .nothing good is happening.

  11. so annoying. i had to leave early so i wouldnt get stuck in commonwealth :|

  12. I think it has a lot of clapping. And I fell asleep after about 10 minutes. And I still hear it in my dreams I'm not a fan of GMA, I think she needs to do more action than speaking.  Anyway, a lot of people don't believe her anymore.
