What did you think of the movie War of the Worlds?

The first one with Gene Barry is great the second with Tom Cruise is terrible.

It sucked.  I hate Tom Cruise and the story didn't flow very well either.  There is no way the son would have magically showed up at the house in the end.  He would have died running after the tanks.  Plus, Dakota Fanning is awful too.

I still don't think there has been a good film adaption of H.G. Well's short novel "War of the World." Well's story is so much better to read than any of its adaptions to any other medium (including Orson Well's radio version) that anything other than the original text comes off as second rate. I doubt anyone will ever do a decent film adaption.
