  1. here in the uk its 40p per mile for the 1st 10000 miles then 25p per mile after that...

  3. depends what country you are in and what firm you work for.

    My daughter in England got £0.25 per mile for using her own car.  Although we were told this was the bottom of the scale and she could of been paid as much as 40p per mile we were quite happy with the 25p the firm paid.

    ps.  tax had to be paid on this too

The IRS allows 50.5 cents per mile as a deduction for business travel in a personal vehicle.  Since you get an allowance, you need to determine if the miles you're driving multiplied by .505 is greater than your allowance.  If it's greater, you can deduct the remainder on your tax filing.  If it's less, you're ahead of the game.
