  1. Hi Tim... your veterinarian should have made a recommendation as to what diet is appropriate for your cat.  Generally, it's best to avoid any table scraps, commercially sold dry pet food which is high in carbs that cats do not require in their diet as they are obligate carnivores.  Consider a canned food diet that is devoid of any preservatives, chemical additives such as BHT, BHA, Ethoxyquin, by-products...Here's more about what to look for to avoid feeding: http://www.acreaturecomfort.com/truthabo...

Most of all commercial pet food (e.g. IAMS, Science Diet, Purina...etc)  contains these harmful ingredients.  Consider premium diets found in small pets stores.  Brand such as:

    Innova EVO, California Natural... http://www.naturapet.com/brands/

    Nature's Variety Prairie http://www.naturesvariety.com/product_ch...

    Felidae http://www.canidae.com/

    Wellness  http://www.oldmotherhubbard.com/

    Orijen http://www.championpetfoods.com/orijen/p...

and many more are completely devoid of the aforementioned ingredients.  You can locate a nearby retailer by visiting each of the manufacturer's website.
