Why does it matter what type I'll buy? Won't they all be the same size or produce the same type sound?

  1. No.Picks come in various sizes.Wide-Medium & Small.Thickness also varies. Each size pick will give a different sound.Thin picks are most often used for tremola.Thick picks are used mostly for lead .The thin picks are used also for strumming to time.

  2. Just choose the one you most prefer.

  3. buy a bunch of picks. they are only 10 cents each or so. Then you will understand what difference a thin very flexible pick sounds like versus what a thicker, hard pick sounds like. NO they don't sound the same at all.

You will probably develop a perference.

  4. i guess it just depends on your preference, my fiance plays and he only uses really tiny picks but when i play i like to use the bigger ones. I don't think it affects the sound quality, so i'd just go with whatever size and thickness works best for you and gives you the most control.
