What difference would it make if I connect my ps3 through a component(green,blue,red) or a hdmi cable?

  1. Not much, really.  Both cables can support 1080i.


  2. Unless your TV has terrible component inputs you won't notice a difference.  One benefit to using HDMI is for upconverting DVDs.  If you watch a regular DVD on your PS3 over component then the resolution will be limited to 480p.  Via HDMI, the PS3 will upconvert the DVD to 1080i.  

    Also, if you are routing audio to your TV then you only need a single HDMI cable since audio can be passed over HDMI.
