  1. Storm chaser if you are brave =)

You can do tornado warnings, hurricane warnings and watches.

  2. Actually the weather man usually is not a real meteorologist. The read what real meteorologists tell them.

  3. By definition there are none, except perhaps "The Weather Lady", or some such.  There are, however, so many different studies that one can pursue literally thousands of specialized interests.  No one person can be expert in all the fields of meteorological analysis and/or prediction.

NOAA is currently listing 192 career positions, ranging from Third Assistant Engineer to Able Seaman.  The 2nd reference is but one "headhunter" and lists almost as many positions, companies, and disciplines, each, as NOAA lists positions, all related to Meteorology.  Did I mention IT fields that are essential?

  4. The people that are seen on the television or heard on the radio are NOT the only types of meteorologists. They are broadcast meteorologists, which a lot of people think of automatically when they here the term 'meteorologist'.

With a meteorology degree, you can become a forecaster, researcher, instructor, consultant, and much more. A meteorology degree is very rewarding, really.

  5. You could be a meteorologist in several fields - atmospheric, research, weather forecasting, etc.

You can also be a storm chaser, or a weather photographer.

And if all else goes nuts, you can teacher meteorology.
