  1. If the single malt is mixed with grain whisky, the result is a blended Scotch whisky.

  2. Briefly, a 'single malt' is the product of a single distillery in a single year and is created from malted barley only.

'Blended' means what it says: it is a blend of several batches, and frequently several distilleries malt whiskies, often (and certainly in the cheaper ones) mixed with a proportion of 'grain spirit', which isn't produced from malted barley.

This doesn't mean 'blended' is bad. Good blended whiskies are more consistent, and indeed better overall, than a poor single malt. I drink Johnny Walker Black Label because I like it - it's a much better made whisky than some cheaper 'single malt' brand-awareness driven hangers-on. Although I very much enjoy an Islay malt when the mood takes me.

By the way - Whiskey is Irish, Whisky is Scottish ( or Scotch ).

  3. single malt whisky is generally made by single distillation process whereas blended whiskies are made by blending of many process

example of single malt is ''glenfidich'',glenmoramge

example of blended whisky is teachers50,jwblack label

  4. name says it all...

  5. single malt is made from one kind of malt. Blended refers to when they mix a few batches together. Single malt is the more expensive of the two and perferred by scotch purists.
