Question:

What digital camera is really good for Macro and focus?

I need a new camera, hooray, but I can't find one I like. I need one that has good Marco, zoom and focus on it, I prefer manual zooms but I'd most likely have to buy another lens (goodbye money) because all the auto-focus cameras I've ever had have been awful! Truly.

As for whether it's SLR or not, I prefer non but I guess that might be hard to find (with a really good focus).

I'm obsessed with tiny, little details. A good example are these photographs (which I didn't take but it's the sort of detail I want).

They were both taken with a Sony DSC-F717 and I know I need two lenses to take those sort of photographs.

So far the only camera I've seen that I like has been the Sony DSC-F717, even though it's not made any more I know where I can get one for a good price. If anybody here has it: are there any drawbacks?

If you've got another good camera, please tell me (and a picture of a really detailed close-up would be brilliant). Could you also tell me whether it's manual or automatic, if I have to end up spending loads of money on a decent Macro lens (if so, please say which one, etcetera...)? If the camera you suggest doesn't work very well with basic photographs (just in case), that's not too important since I've got a rubbish camera that can only deal with that (useless thing). I've also got a feeling that the DOFs will be shallow, which is generally a problem, but sometimes that can be fiddled with. For me, detail is more important than DOF though I don't want it to be ridiculously tiny.

I'm sorry if I'm being too picky.

Please and thank you.

  1. Have you considered a digital microscope, that plugs into the USB socket on your computer?

Try a search on ebay for "USB microscope". Most of the sellers have pictures of what they can do.

  2. I use an Olympus mju 1020. It can focus at 2cm distance. The 37mm-260mm(7x) lens offers you great abilities to play with the focus and the depth of field. It also has double aspherical parts which they offer very clear photos and the 10.1 Mp will give you the sharpness you want. I am very pleased in all conditions. It just keeps shooting perfect. I bought it for 290€ in Greece. I strongly suggest it.

If you want something better than this try the Olympus SP-570 UZ (20x zoom 26mm-520mm) but it will cost more.

    Even better?

Then you have to spend a lot of money and buy an SLR with a few lenses.

    Hope I helped.

  3. Try Nikkon DSLR D - 90 Will cost u Rs57,000

    .

Perfect for you considering the above specifications
