The main discovery that the International Space Station made is that it is awfully expensive.

They are only in low earth orbit. However they have made huge advances in space technology like life support systems and stuff like that. Soon they are going to test an experimental plasma thruster on the station for station keeping.

Plenty of discoveries have been made, most of them completely over the commoners head, but eventually the results of the research conducted will help with interplanetary expeditions.
