  1. Hepatitus

--- go to a licensed artist

  2. if the shop is clean and sterile(check it out before you go) you wont catch anything

  3. Everything should be new and sterile, to prevent bloodborne pathogens from being able to get anywhere near you. The tubes and tips should be fresh out of the autoclave, the needles, as well, should be both new and sterile, either pre-packaged with an expiration date or made at the shop and sterelized, and everything should be covered with barrier film. Ask to see their cleaning room, they should be happy to show it to you. They will wear gloves that they will replace if you leave their line of vision. Armrests and chairs will be covered with barrier film as well as the machines will have clear plastic bags over them. When they use vaseline, it will be applied with a wooden toungue depressor. Ask to see inspection papers. They'll have no problem if they're up to snuff. Enjoy your ink!

  4. The only way to stop from getting a disease from getting a tattoo is to do your research on the shop and artist and make sure its a good clean shop with good artists.

  5. im going to get my first one too and i was worried about this. go to one that is licensed and where theres a professional, or maybe somewhere someone you know has had it done? there are obviously risks wherever you go, but just be careful and youll be fine =]

  6. I got quite a nasty cellulitis where my whole hand/wrist swelled up.Needed antibiotics to shift it.Went to a dodgy studio tho,not really clean AND he had a dog lol.

  7. Be careful of who you allow to tattoo you. Make sure that the artist uses clean tools ( No, I don't mean that they wash them, I mean that they get them out of unopened packages). Make sure everything is completely sterile.

If you aren't careful, you can get :

Hepatitus, tentanus, HIV, AIDS, the list goes on. Numerous blood infections.

Trust your instincts, on this one!

(By the way, just because a studio has licensed artists doesn't mean that they are always clean!)_

  8. Tattoos are done using needles and do have a potential for mixing body fluids.  Therefore you could get any disease from tattoos that you can from, say, drug use.  This includes Hepititus, HIV, Blood Poisoning etc.  You can also get infections in the tattoo itself.

Make sure you go to a sterile tattoo studio who are a member of the recognised tattoo artist association/register or whatever the governing body is in your area.  Make sure the artist uses clean, new needles etc and wears gloves.  Ensure everything is sterilised and wiped.

To reduce risk of infection take Zinc tablets.  This will increase your body's recover time reducing infection risk.  Make sure you follow the after care recommendations to the letter.

  9. if you go to a clean shop that sterilizes everything they use gun/needle wise- or they use fresh needles each time

you shouldn't get anything or catch anything

i've never known anyone to get sick or catch anything at a shop- and i know a lot of ppl with tattoos.

  10. there's a slight possibility of contracting hepatitis from getting a tattoo, but if you go somewhere clean where they use a new needle every time the risk is pretty much nothing.

you also have to keep it clean and moisturized the first few weeks, because it's an open wound and scabs over, you don't want to get an infection.

make sure your tattoo artist and parlor are reputable, and ask about aftercare, they should have detailed instructions on how to prevent anything from going wrong

  11. Any diseases you get while getting a tattoo you will get no matter what you do. By getting a tattoo you are putting yourself at risk for HIV, Hep. B & C, and if you don't put lots of sun block on it (after it's healed) you are at a higher risk for skin cancer, and alot more.

Besides sun block (AFTER it's healed) there isn't alot you can do besides NOT get it.

Don't worry though, licensed places should be fine. I'm NOT trying to talk you out of it, I'm getting one Thursday! :P

  12. Take zinc daily to fight infections, this will also help healing. These days tattoo studios are mostly very clean and sterile. Go somewhere with a good reputation and you'll be fine.

  13. AIDS, hepatitis, golden staff, toxoplasmosis and all sorts of bacterial infection.

To prevent getting diseases and infections go to a good tattooist.

  14. ive personally never heard of this in my country UK. as they are all sterile and adhere to the rules in shops.  I would urge you to use only a professional approved shop/artist who will tell you more! It feels great having a tattoo done, nippy but tickly! enjoy

  15. You can only get diseases from dirty, unsterilised needles at unclean, badly run tattoo studios. Things like Hep C, HIV and other blood-bourne infections can be picked up from these unlicensed scratchers. To avoid disease is simple - go to a licenced, regulated tattooist and check their health certificates.
