What disqualifies you for an apartment? and how long does it take for an application to be approved or not.?

i've never lived in an apartment before, only rental houses... and i'm moving out of state to an apt, i completed my app online yesterday, and i am moving FRIDAY! i hope i know something soon...

  1. I doubt you will have anything set for Friday.  The complex will usually run a credit/backround check and also check with your previous landlords.  This could take anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks.


  2. You must have a verifiable income, have funds available for any deposits, not have any sexual violations, and let them do a credit check.

    If your credit scores are low and you have a history of not paying your rent or mortgage on time they may not rent to you as well.

  3. Disqualifiers are generally such bad credit that a co-signer or larger deposit isn't the solution, recent eviction, no job and no money.

    Apps can be approved within 24 hours in some cases so you need to contact where you applied and verify that you can get a rush on your application, maybe pay extra for it.  Larger apartment buildings can handle, and should welcome, a quick move-in!
