Probably none. Typically those "distance learning" outfits, unless specifically tied to an accredited university, are just degree mills who want to sell you a piece of paper.

Besides, I have never heard of a direct major in ornithology, I thought that might be encompassed in a major in either biology or zoology.

You'd want to probably get a degree in Zoology. As far as getting a degree in the field of science on-line... I'd check with your local colleges and universities to see if they offer classes online. That would be your best bet.
