What do 40mph winds feel like? what kind of damage could they do? ?

does anyone know if ts fay has any chance of becoming a hurricane if it gains intensity and/or wind speeds over the course of today??

  1. Nothing it's just a stiff breeze


  2. 40mph is not a hurricane.  Not even close.

  3. Hurricane force winds are 73 MPH and above.

    40 MPH is merely a good thunderstorm, some minor damage possible.

  4. its not a hurricane. On beaufort scale, 40 mph is sign by twigs and small branches are broken from trees, and you'll be difficult to walk. thats on the land.

    on water (sea) it will cause moderately large waves with blown foam

  5. Thats nothing. If wind GUSTS get that high you might have problems, but just regular wind will feel like nothing. When you start getting into the 60-70 mph that's something to watch out for.

    I'm from Sacramento, Ca and we get 40 mph winds all winter long.
