What do 8 year old girls like, What kinds of toys etc..

We are unexpectedly adopting a 8 year old little girl whose father just went to prison, she will be here in 2 weeks. What kind of things should we buy for her, what do 8 year olds like as far and toys etc..?

Barbie dolls, baby dolls, dollhouse, coloring, Polly Pockets, American Girl products, Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana stuff ect.

Stuff like that. I have an 8 year old cousin and she loves that kind of stuff.

I have a daughter who will be 8 in October here is what she likes and wants ;)

She LOVES anything Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana

so her Cds would be good and a cd player

She wants a nintendo DS for her birthday or an MP3 player

she still likes polly pockets, barbies and littelest pet shops

She also loves high school musical 1&2 and camp rock

She also loves to do her hair and put makeup on (we just wont let her out of the house wearing it lol)

I cant think of anything else off hand but I hoped I helped:)

I have a 7 and a 9 year old.

They like things like Hanna Montana, HSM, toy pets/animals, writing paper, music, they have nintendo ds's... Really it will depend on what she holds a higher interest in. It could be dolls or craft really.

I would pick up a few basic items and then after she comes to live with you. Take her to pick a few things by herself.

I have 2 8 year olds (One bio .... one step) and their tastes are drastically different! One loves Hannah Montana while the other cannot stand her.

They both agree on : Littlest Pet Shops, Polly Pocket, dress-up.

I agree with the other answer to take her shopping. She'll be so excited and she gets to pick a few things that she likes. My daughter is 7 and she likes:

Leapster

Camp Rock

Hannah Montana stuff

Bratz dolls

Craft activity sets

Drawing, coloring with markers (not crayons)

Polly Pocket playsets (she likes the Jumbo Jet one)

High School musical stuff

Doing her nails, putting on makeup

Listening to music

my 8 year old enjoys riding her bike, jump rope, skip it, trampoline and sprinkler outside

Inside she likes to play on the computer clubpeguin and yahooligans and webkinz

She also plays with american girl dolls (look a likes) and loves to dress them up and feed them with those disappearing milk bottles.

She also loves to read and has lots and lots of books

can't go wrong with colors, markers and white copy paper.

the girls can spend hours drawing.

also craft projects like making bead braclets and neckaces

if your adopting her, why not wait till she gets here, and use the money you were going to spend on toys on taking her to the toy shop and letting them pick them out herself?

It would be a great chance to get to acquainted, and I'm sure she would be glad to pick out her own toys, that way, you know she will love them. All kids love going to pick out their own toys.

It depends on the child. I would wait and take her shopping to see what she is in to.
