What do ALL vegetarians take offense to being labeled as such?? ?

I mean its like as if they ALMOST feel dirty of their alternative ways........why is that?

I've never met vegetarians that get pissed about that. It's an admirable lifestyle that takes serious commitment.

However, it should be noted that there's evidence suggesting that vegetarian lifestyles do more harm to animals than eating meat.

I'm glad you asked.

I eat fish and seafood, but I don't eat red meat or birds.

Sometimes I say

I don't eat meat, and people say,

Oh, you're vegetarian?

and I explain, no, because I eat seafood.

Sometimes, people who have formed the opinion I am a vegetarian 'accusingly' say things like

Why do you eat fish if you're a vegetarian?

like I'm some sort of hypocrite.

Some people get a bit aggressive towards vegetarians (and me) as if they're being looked down on for eating meat, although it my experience that doesn't happen.

Anyway,

I'm not telling other people what to eat, but my diet seems to make some people a bit hostile / defensive.

Why is THAT?
