Related to the other question about if genders think different humour is funny and someone said that it's probably more culture based. The majority of people on GWS seem to be USA, so what do you think of humour like:

Little Britain, League of Gentlemen, Bottom and Absolutely Fabulous?

Is it gender or is it cultural...

  1. Why do so many americans recall Mr Bean when reciting British comedy programmes, Mr Bean is a kids programme. The present time is a golden age for british comedy, just have a look at The Mighty Boosh, Harry Hill, Him n Her, Peep Show and the more vintage comedy that I love, Alan Partridge, Fawlty Towers, The Office etc. Some of the most hilarious comedians are British, Lee Evans, Ricky Gervais...

  2. I'm British and i love our humour i havent seen american humour but i dont think it'll be as bad as some people make out. although i have no idea why you guys arent naming the really good ones like michael mcintyre comedy road sho or would i lie to you there down right amazing and i would know cause i watch them everytime their on!

  3. they mostly don't get it cos it requires too much thinking...takes them so long that when they finally do get it everyone has moved on and its no-longer funny.

  4. I'm an American Stand up Comedian, and as for myself I see it as American humor is very loud, and British humor is more subtle.  Most Americans obviously prefer american humor, but the Brits are making it into our hearts with people like Simon Pegg and Ricky Gervais.  I find British humor requires more attention. I can more easily zone out to American humor and still laugh because it's just more in your face. They are different though and very interesting because Brits will say things that just simply would not have occurred to an american to say.  Ricky Gervais, Eddie Izzard, and Dylan Moran are quite impressive IMO. Especially Ricky.
