  1. I think everyone who is in contact with a child is a teacher. To be a formal teacher you need some sort of certificate or degree. Many child care providers do have certificates and can do different things that come under "teaching" in their facility. There are many levels of being smart. Talk to someone about the career you would like to know about. Someone in your school should be able to give you some good advice and start you on the right track. Good luck!

  2. #1) Provide/ take care of children

#2) No, teachers teach and need to be certified.

#3) I guess you don't have to be smart, you just need to be very caring and responsible. It's not like you'll be doing math problems w/ the child.

#4) Parents do like to see their providers w/ education or at least not ignorant

  3. Most daycares/preschools have teacher's assistant position as well as daycare help.  A respected daycare/preschool you would have to be 18, and be able to have fingerprints which would tell them that you are not a felon.  Its a fun job, especially if you are curious if you would like getting into Teaching.  Only downside, you'll probably make minimum wage, or alittle bit over- BUMMER!

  4. I am a preschool teacher at a private child development center.  I live in Michigan, and here only 6 credits in an early childhood related field is required by the state law.  That said, I have a bachelors degree in psychology with a minor in early childhood.  I am working on my master's in early childhood eduacation.  I would say that most places would want someone that has experience with children, and also some kind of education.  You have to like children to work with them.  You also need to have people skills, because you will have to talk to parents and also communicate with other staff.

  5. i'm a licensed daycare provider, and i also teach preschool to the children who attend my daycare.  what you do with your own childcare center depends on what your focus will be.  one tip, though, is that even though you may not be a "teacher," with a teaching certificate, it might be a good idea to emulate what teachers do in a classroom, as far as a structured day, with activities planned, and with good organization so the children know what to expect from day to day.

  6. If you are trying to be a "license child care provider" than yes I would imaging you do need good grades, because you need a certificate/degree or special training. But for "non-license child care providers"  don't need good grades. You just need an individual who is willing to trust you caring for their child.

Obviously those who have licenses get paid more.

Taking care of a child is common sense, but it sometimes takes more training to care for someone esles child. You need patients and a caring heart to be successful at this job.

  7. Daycare providers are not normally teachers - I mean, they can be but not usually -teachers have the education to back them up and teach in a classroom setting.  Child care providers provide care during the day - usually all day long.  Teachers only have children during school time.  So, yes, you can be a child care provider if you really want to be one and have good intentions for the children.
