Cafes in either a small French town or in the towns north of Quebec City will do.

  2. In general, French cafes are small and somewhat dark.  They are frequently found on a small street or a town square.  French cafes, by definition, are family operated and space is limited.  I can't say about cafes in Quebec, but space is not such an issue.

    In France cafes are small and pleasant, everybody speaks about everything (politics, sports, problems of the everyday life)

    Be careful ! A french coffee is an EXPRESSO. It's very different from the very long coffee of US)
