  1. A case of Irish Whiskey! LOL

I think you will likely have to take your Passports from Ireland.  American and Canadian citizens only need BIrth Certificates and Photo ID like a drivers license.

    Have fun!

  2. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency has urged travelers to carry a birth certificate and photo ID.

Those who don't have a passport must carry a birth certificate plus government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's license or school ID for young students, to show at border inspection stations.

You should carry your Ireland passport and photo ID.

Going through Mexico's border is a breeze; you basically just drive through.

Coming back to the US is a hassle with all the screening for drugs and illegal aliens. It usually takes at least 30 minutes waiting in line or more.

  3. All you need is a passport...your American friends may use a passport OR birth certificate and photo I.D.  You do not need a visa.

You will all need to get a tourist card at the border .  Cost is about $22.00.   See site below to confirm that you do not need a visa.
