I'm 19 years old and I usually babysit for this family two to three nights a week. It's the mom's birthday and she wants me to babysit overnight and I said $100, which is 6pm to 11am. Also, I watch him at my house and am very flexible and leniant with this couple. They pay me $6 an hour normally. The mom thinks $100 is too much. Is this too much, or is it reasonable? Oh, and normally I babysit him from 6pm to about 1 in the morning. The baby is on kind of a weird scedule as he goes to bed around 11pm.

  1. No way, I don't think that's too much. It's a pretty big responsibility to watch an 8 month old over night, not to mention if he/she wakes up for feedings or anything else still. A lot of babies do until they're 1 or so. 6pm to 11am is 17 hours. 17 x $6 is $102, so you're about right! If it was me I'd charge them the $6/hr and then an additional $20-$30 for the overnight. =)

  2. thats way to much i would say like 50-75 max

  3. you have more time that something could go wrong, so i think $100 is really good! $6 hour is crazy i would do at least $10. do they not realize how expensive day cares are now.

  4. to baby sit for 5 hours so about 5x6= $30 but add 20 more dollars lol  :] thats what i would do

  5. thats a good price & not too much

if u worked a normal job at like $8 a hour u would make $136

so ur being nice by not charging them alot!

plus its more work becuz its a 8 month old!
