Ok, I want to be a Journalist Writer and write for the newspaper, but I don't know where to go to college. I know you have to start at the bottom to get to the top to be a Journalist Writer; So, I wanted to work in an office/clerical setting. I can't work right now because I have a charge on my record that needs to be cleared first by Expungment; In other words, my fine is big. So, I want to go to college, but I don't know where...Help???

  1. Start by going to your local community college and majoring in English or some kind of Writing major if available.

  2. I agree with the first person who answered.  Start at your Community college.  I know you said it didn't work for you but try again and start with classes that interest you.  Work towards your AA degree.  No university can turn you away with an AA degree.  There are lots of books at Barnes and Noble that list top schools/universities that are the best in certain career fields.  Just take an evening and go to your local Barnes and Noble or your local bookstore and spend sometime looking over these books.  Also if you do go back to your community college there are career staffers who can lead you in the right direction.

Another option is to look to see if in your area there is a journalist trade school.  Here in MD we have Sheffield (sp?) Institute that trains you for careers in journalism/radio.

Hope this helps and Good Luck
